The Right Of Choice
From the title I choose, many people would most likely think that this paper has to do with abortion. When really it has to do with something along that same subject, and that is choosing the sex of a child. This was a very big discovery in science, and it should be used, but limited. From my reading I believe adults should be able to chose what sex they want their children to be. But it should be limited to one use per couple. There are many people out there that have numerous children of the same sex, and there only wish is to mix it up just a little.
The process in making children your choice a sex is a very small process that can be rather expenses. It involves taking a males sperm and pouring dyes on it to discover which chromosome the sperm is. Then after the desire sperm is found it is placed into an egg and put into the female. This process isn't 100% accurate, it is easier to locate the x- bearing sperm (female) which is about 91%. While the y- bearing sperm (male) is only 74%.
Why this process is what I believe to be a good one is because of the fact that many disease can be prevented. These include many disorders (detail). Also some people I believe are just "cursed" like my neighbor who has 5 girls, and has stated that his goal was to get a boy. He has said to my in a interview that he and his wife have looked into these procedures to see how well they work.
All in all I believe this process is a good one. Yes you could claim that we are playing "god" but I believe that some parents should be allowed to make this decision.
