The human resources department and management personnel have a great many responsibilities. This collaborative department must organize and oversee practically everything involving an employee from locating and recruiting qualified individuals for hiring (interviewing applicants and determining their ability and placing them in a position accordingly) and effective training to employee motivation and personal salary (which includes handling obligations like payroll, W2 forms and other tax related information, and various other forms of paperwork). Also, this division of a company must regulate and administer employee benefits (compensation, pensions, bonuses, etc), handle employee relations (which may include topics such as inter-office relationships and sexual harassment), and make decisions about employee conduct. The HR department bears the responsibility of record keeping of its employees in many aspects (personal, background information, previous work experience, qualifications, etc). Above its business functions, the human resource department and team must also be a flexible and responsive sector to the employees it supports by

supporting an organization’s staff through fair, legal, and consistent policies. It must realize that first and foremost its employees are people and not just another resource to the company they are working for. As such, these employees have needs that exceed more than just rules and business practices. An effective human resources department should be regarded as having a very “human” aspect to it. Of course, it is not to be left unsaid that there is also a profit interest and not just a humane one. Every company is out to increase their profit margin and investment return while doing everything possible to decrease financial risks and losses.
