Same-Sex Marriage
Traditionally, marriage has been defined as a religious and legal commitment between a man and woman. A marriage becomes formal if either a religious or state authorized officiator conducts it. There are three main types of marriages; heterosexual marriage, which is part of the constitution, recognized by society or religion and is the largest type of marriage practiced. Then there is the polygamous marriage, which used to practiced in the olden days is not very common nowadays to be between a man and two or more wives. Recently some jurisdictions begun to recognize the union of the same gender as marriage and it’s called same sex marriage. This particular marriage has generated a lot of questions and debates as to whether it should be legalized or not. Since Christianity is the biggest religion practiced around the world and in America many believe it should not be legalized because it’s a sin. For example, the legal system in the United States evolved out of the laws contained in the Bible and the US code title 1 section 7 also defines marriage as “only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife”. Although gay rights movements promote the union as a civil right, society believes the actual intention is to destroy the institution of marriage, yield high-risk sexual lifestyle and end reproduction.
Regardless of religion, culture or constitutional tradition, societies have always agreed on the nature of marriage to be a sacred institution between a man and woman therefore legalizing gay marriages will defile and destroy the institution of marriage.
