"The law is reason free from passion", Aristotle's immortal words expressly tell us his thought of what law should be like. Here he drew a thin line, clearly excluding "passion" as one the ingredients of law. Why do people legislate? In order to explore deeper into this question, let me first take a closer look at what laws are about. As Aristotle sees it, law is anything but passion. He didn't give any interpretation as to what passion was, or place any kind of value judgment toward it. Different people may have different definitions of "passion". For me, I'd rather interpret it to a larger extent, which, I suppose, should not only encompass the kind of human feeling but also the inherent human desire. It is because of the various desires we possess that we get up every day study and work as we do. To some extent, we're governed by them. But we're never going to tolerate to them. Picture such a society where there is no rules, no regulations, everyone is left to their own devices.......
